Pigott, Robert and William Christian, Edward Voce, John and Luke Coy, Thomas Newton, A. Husbands and Henry Stockwell.
They decided, and began to build. Local stone was used.
It was carted by Henry Stockwell and local farmers.
The foundation -stone was laid in June, 1864 and the Church was opened in February, 1865. The Dedicatory Sermon was
preached by the Rev. Samuel Coley. Its total cost was £450.
With the completion of the new church the membership figures began to improve. In 1869, John Tearle died and his successor
as Leader was Henry Stockwell who adorned that office until 1889 when he became Circuit Steward. The local Leadership then
passed into the hands of Jesse Cant who remained in that capacity until 1923.
The next Trust deed was executed in 1881. The minister was Rev. Henry Holmes and the Trustees appointed were: - John Coy
(Leicester), Henry Coy (Sproxton), Luke Coy (Syston), Joseph Wilders (Croxton), Edward Voce (Stroxton), Thomas Newwton
(Easton), Robert and William Christian (Skillington), William Veasey (Buckminster), David Dixon, William Hornsby, Gabriel Pigott,
A. Husbands and Samuel L. Williamson (Grantham).
It is noticeable that only one resident was chosen. A note is added here, that the church building was insured for £300.
Four beautiful stained glass Memorial Windows adorn the Sanctuary. They were presented by John Coy to record affectionate
regard to the memory of members of the family. The captions read as follows: -
I. "To the memory of Thomas Coy 1787-1834, and Ann his wife 1787-1859".
2. "To the memory of Sarah Augusta Coy 1821-1885".
3. "To Joln Thomas Coy 1856-1887 and John Prendergast Coy (1857-1892)'.
4. The centre window over the porch is dedicated to the memory of John's daughter, Mary Foster Coy 1858-1902 who was the
first Deaconess in Leicester. Her portrait, in uniform, appears on one of the panels.
