A big welcome to St Bartholomew's Church

Important notice about some of the graves.  Click here. St. Bartholomew’s is one of the six parishes of the High Framland Benefice, of which more can be learned here. Our new priest in charge, Rowena Bass, has arrived.   She was installed as Priest in Charge on 8th March 2012 at 7.30pm in Croxton Kerrial church. Running alongside the Christian activity of the Church there are the Village Hall Services. These are non denominational services which start with refreshments at 10 o’clock on the 4th Sunday of each month. St Bartholomew's stands at the top of the hill above Sproxton and commands fine views towards Stonesby and Waltham-on-the-Wolds. It possesses a fine ring of eight bells which were moved from All Saints’ in Leicester when that church was made redundant. Our then rector, Tony Clayton, being interested in bells and having worked for Taylors’ of Loughborough, became aware of the possibility of acquiring the bells. The frame fitted the tower and with much work the bells were hung. They are now rung regularly for services, practices and peals. Being quite light (8 1/4 Cwt.), a peal will usually take about 2½ hours. The fee for a peal is £20. Contact Nick Cooke if you would like to book them for a visiting band or peal. It is, in fact, an Anglo-Norse cross.
